Objective—Students will explore moving rhythmically in space and to music; they will focus on body and space awareness and creative expression. They will use ipods to assist with this. They will continue to work on cardiovascular fitness and muscular strength and endurance and flexibility.
K-3
EQUIPMENT: ipods for each student, smart board and laptop, wireless capability, ipod docking station, yoga mats, small bouncy ball for each student.
ASSESSMENT: Assessment will be done on the degree of participation and rubrics created for Podcast creation.
Day 1
Stretch Out: Students will warm up to video Podcast from iTunes called Yoga Peeps. They will work on salutation to the sun as it is seen on the smartboard.
Warm up: Students will play wipe out on their ipods and do the 4-minute wipeout routine. They may pause and take rest when necessary, but have to complete entire routine before they can move on.
Core Activity: Ball bounce activity
INSTRUCTIONS: Each student will choose music and develop own ball bounce routine for the song. Each routine will have 5—8 beat segments to them. Students will then get a partner and share routine with a partner. Finally, partners will create a routine together.
Cool Down: Students will listen to daily affirmations on their pod and relax. They will rejuvenate before returning to class.
Day 2
Stretch out: Stretches of all core muscles done to Podcast created by students. Students can perform their own stretch routine they broadcast or stretch to a Podcast created by a fellow student.
Warm up: Follow Bollywood video Podcast that is projected onto smart board.
Core Activity: Demonstration of ball bounce activity and Podcast creation.
INSTRUCTIONS: Students will demonstrate the ball bounce activity they created with their partners last time. They will then go to the computers and create a Podcast of the routine they created and add the music with the routine.
Cool Down: Interactive matching game of rhythm opposites on smartboard. Examples would be: slow/quick, high/low, dart/glide.
